It's Almost Here!

I can’t believe it’s almost time for Alex and I to leave for our adventure in Australia!  It feels like forever ago that we got our visas, told the family and made up our minds to spend this year exploring.  As excited as I am and as awesome an experience as this is going to be, it hasn’t necessarily been easy.  Saying good-bye to friends and family, quitting my job, (fitting all the clothes I’m going to need for an entire year into a BACKPACK!) and finding Penny a new home for a year were all challenging and emotional.  Now that I’ve made it through the worst of it, I couldn’t be more excited for the unknown that lies ahead.  They say what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger so I should be an Ironman after living out of a backpack for a year!! 

Quick thanks to all my wonderful friends who met me for lunch, took me out to dinner, came by the going-away party or just stopped by to say goodbye before I left.  It was great to see everyone and I miss you all already.  I’m thrilled we can all stay in touch via the blog (though as I keep telling people, YOU have to keep me posted on what’s going on in your lives too) and I promise to post photos and updates each week.  We are scheduled to arrive in Australia on April 13^th (after what I expect to be an amazing week on a Caribbean cruise for Alex’s Mom’s bday) so look for posts to start after that!
